Wisconsin Educational Approval Board Memorandum of Understanding Updated
The Memorandum of Understanding between the DETC and the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board has been updated to reflect the fact that, for all DETC-accredited institutions, the EAB will accept the tuition refund policy established by DETC as meeting the state of Wisconsin standards.
The Memorandum of Understanding between Wisconsin and DETC allows for DETC institutions with a small number of students to forego Wisconsin's state registration process, though institutions with larger numbers of Wisconsin residents will need to register with the State. But for all DETC members, Wisconsin's Educational Approval Board has accepted the DETC tuition refund policy in lieu of the WEAB policy, which is a welcomed concession from DETC's perspective. Wisconsin has long exhibited a willingness to work with DETC, going back nearly 20 years, and the working relationship has been mutually agreeable.
"This is an example of how reciprocity between oversight groups should work. We salute Dr. David Dies and his fine EAB team on their willingness to work with the DETC," said DETC's Executive Director, Michael P. Lambert.
The Memorandum of Understanding, which was originally executed on May 1, 2003, is designed to protect Wisconsin consumers and ensure quality education and training options for Wisconsin residents through DETC-accredited institutions.
