DETC - Distance Education & Training Council

Save the Date for DETC's
Webinar on Faculty Employment Status

Navigating the options for faculty employment status can be a challenge—how should your institution treat adjunct faculty who teach distance courses? Is it better to classify them as employees, or independent contractors? What are costs and trade-offs involved in converting one to the other? What does the IRS require?

To help condense this complex issue and clarify the salient points, DETC has enlisted the help of Lucien 'Skip' Capone, one of the premier higher education attorneys in the country. Mr. Capone will be leading a 90-minute webinar for DETC institutions next month, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, December 13th.

Do you have a question about faculty employment status you’d like to have answered during the presentation? Send it to Rob Chalifoux, who will compile the questions and submit them to Mr. Capone prior to the webinar.

Registration will be available soon—check the Member Services section (and your inbox!) for more information when registration becomes available.
