Register Now for DETC Webinar on the State of State Authorization

As part of its ongoing efforts to provide current, actionable information on state authorization, DETC is pleased to announce a Webinar on The State of State Authorization featuring Russ Poulin, Deputy Director, Research and Analysis for WCET. The webinar, taking place at 2:00 p.m. eastern on Monday, May 14th, will be your chance to get an update on The State of State Authorization: Find out the history and current status of the regulations, and what your institution should be doing now to ensure compliance. Registration is free, but must be completed by Friday, May 11th using the online webinar registration form. The webinar is limited to 50 seats, so please only register one person from your institution.

DETC Executive Director Honored by NASASPS

Recently, DETC Executive Director Michael P. Lambert was honored by the National Association of State Administrators and Supervisors of Private Schools (NASASPS) by being elected as an Honorary Lifetime NASASPS member. He is one of only nine individuals to have received this distinctive honor—and the first who was not a State official.

Department of Defense Relaxes MoU

The Department of Defense appears to have softened a new memorandum of understanding for colleges participating in tuition assistance programs for active duty military service members, eliminating provisions that some campus officials said went too far in trying to influence college policies on academic issues—and adding new ones that seem aimed at for-profit institutions.

DETC Celebrates 86th Annual Conference

More than 180 people gathered to learn, share, and network at the Distance Education and Training Council's 86th Annual Conference April 15-17, 2012 at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa in Maui, Hawaii. Attendees gathered for two days full of richly informative sessions, and to network with some of the brightest minds in the world of distance education. But the learning doesn’t stop just because the meeting is over. Interested in reviewing a presentation, or getting a copy of some handouts? Both are available online, by visiting the Conference Program page of the meeting website. Looking to connect with other attendees? A version of the Workshop registration list also is included in the online Conference program. Didn't get to attend, and interested in seeing what you missed? 2012 CCME Recap

The 2012 Council of College and Military Educators Symposium was held February 13-17 at the at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld hotel Orlando, Florida. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Salute to Possibilities: Paving the Way for Our Military Community." More than 1000 people attended, and eight DETC institutions were represented among the Symposium's exhibitors.
