DETC Executive Director Michael P. Lambert addressed the Mid Winter Conference of the National Association of State Approving Agencies (NASAA) in Arlington, VA February 22.
NASAA members are the state executives who do the approval of educational programs and institutions for the purpose of G.I. Bill funding for educational benefit programs for veterans. Each state has its own approving agency, operating under contracts with the Federal Government.
More than 100 people, from California to Maine, attended the session. Mr. Lambert gave a briefing on DETC and its current activities, and addressed, in particular, growing employer acceptance of DETC graduates, data on outcomes of programs in DETC, including student satisfaction and graduation rates.
He showed slides with comparative graduation data between DETC institutions and non DETC online accredited institutions. He asserted the data clearly reveal how and why DETC institutions represent the best bargain in higher education today, with tuition rates that are far lower on average than their online institution competition.
