DETC 85th Annual Conference
April 3-5, 2011
The Williamsburg Lodge * Williamsburg, VA
Tour of Colonial Williamsburg

Saturday, April 2nd
10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m.
Before the Annual Conference starts Sunday, join us Saturday, April 2nd, for an optional walking tour of Colonial Williamsburg!
Attendees will gather in the lobby of the Williamsburg Lodge at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, where they will be greeted by professional tour guides. The guides will escort attendees onto the historic streets of Williamsburg, where they will enjoy a first-hand look at life in the 18th century America. The tour will highlight the history of the restoration of Williamsburg and the lifestyles of its people in Colonial America. As your group walks through these historic streets and exhibits, they will be given an in-depth narration of the beginning of Williamsburg and the work that continues today.
The tour will conclude at the steps of Shield’s Tavern, where the group will enjoy lunch. In the 18th century, Williamsburg’s taverns provided comfortable lodgings for travelers as well as serving as places to gather for meals, conversation, and entertainment. Proprietors prided themselves on serving filling meals using the freshest ingredients. Today, Colonial Williamsburg’s historic dining taverns carry on these traditions by providing a relaxed and comfortable setting for diners to experience some of the flavor of the 18th century—through atmosphere, entertainments, and food.
The group tour costs $30/person, which includes lunch at Shield's Tavern and admission to Colonial Williamsburg for the entire duration of your stay. Go back and re-visit the historic area any time you'd like during your stay at the Williamsburg Lodge.
