Dr. John LaNear was named President of Grantham University in February 2009. Dr. LaNear earned his B.A. in English from Missouri State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Law. He earned his M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the past, he has served as a faculty member, Department Chair, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Campus Director and in various other administrative roles in private and public, for profit and not-for-profit colleges and universities in Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin. Dr. LaNear provides valuable experience in educational leadership to the Board. He has insight into the operations of a variety of higher education institutions across the country and is able to bring that knowledge to board discussions. His knowledge of distance learning brings valuable input to all educational issues including part-time remote faculty issues, curriculum development, accreditation, administrative issues, technology development, and Title IV funding.
Ms. Cheryl Hayek has served as the Associate Academic Dean of Educational Support Services since 2008. Since joining Grantham in 2004, she created and serves as Director of Grantham’s Student Advising and learning Center. Her original models for faculty development (VIP2) and swaddling orientation services were accepted for presentation at the 2009 Sloan International Conference on Online Learning. Cheryl earned a B.A. in English and Spanish from Montclair State University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administration from William Paterson University. She is in the process of writing her dissertation on effective adult learner support programs at Northcentral University.
