About the Presenter:

Mr. Wally Boston was appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of American Public University System(APUS) and its parent company, American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) in July 2004, after joining APUS in 2002 as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to his service to the University, Mr. Boston is a member of the West Virginia Governor’s Advisory Council for Technology in Education and serves as a Board Member of the Education Alliance, a non-profit organization promoting public/private partnerships serving K-12 public schools in West Virginia. He is also a Board Member of the Gateway New Economy Council.

In his career prior to APEI and APUS, Wally served as either CFO, COO, or CEO of Meridian Healthcare, Manor Healthcare, Neighborcare Pharmacies, and Sun Healthcare Group. Mr. Boston earned an A.B. degree in History from Duke University and an MBA in Marketing and Accounting from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business Administration. In 2008, the Board of Trustees of APUS awarded him a Doctorate in Business Administration, honoris causa. In his spare time, he is enrolled in a doctoral program in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.
